Inaugural winner reflects on a first for women in Lloydminster

At this year’s Lloydminster Chamber Business Awards, it was the first time that a trophy was minted for women in business.

The new award category, sponsored by Red Bicycle Communications went to Lindsay Sedgwick and Can-Do Auto & Lube.

Sedgwick, filled with gratitude, described receiving the accolade as “incredible.”

“For the Chamber and Red Bicycle to recognize women in business and our contributions to Lloydminster and our province is just incredible – and it’s showing that women can be successful raising children and having careers.”

The family run operation has been serving the area since 1984 with Sedgwick becoming the majority shareholder from her parents in 2017.

Sedgwick acknowledged the work of women in the community saying, “there are a lot of powerhouses in our community and great women doing some amazing things to help support and service the community.”

The first time winner of the women in business award is reflecting on the significance of the occasion.

“I think in business and in life, there are always going to be those that support you and there will be those that try to discount your credibility. My message is to keep going anyways – and wearing heels is the icing on the cake,” says Sedgwick.
