Citizens on Patrol 50/50 draw on Thursday

A few more sleeps and someone could be winning some welcome cash and supporting a local non-profit whose volunteers burn the late hours to keep an eye on the neighbourhood.

Citizens on Patrol will be drawing its 50/50 raffle on Thursday Dec. 1 and the winner could cash in on at least $5,400 says Mike Prosper with the neighbourhood watch.

“It’s been pretty good. We started the raffle earlier this year. We had 2000 tickets printed. The goal was 20,000. We have got almost 1100 tickets sold. So one lucky person is going to take home right now, $5410.”

The draw will be done by an RCMP officer on Thursday evening at the RCMP detachment and the winnings can certainly go up by draw time, indicates Prosper.

As MyLloydminsterNow has reported the local Citizens on Patrol works in partnership with the police and relays information while surveilling the community. Prosper says the funds raised will go a long way to support their efforts.

“We have three Citizens on Patrol vehicles that we use for patrolling. So we need the maintenance and upkeep of our vehicles. Gas of course. Things like flashlights and our other gear for outdoor patrols.”

Tickets can be purchased at Sheepskin Loft and also via e-transfer: [email protected].
