Fire broke out at residence in Wainwright

Wainwright Fire and Rescue have issued a press release following a house fire that took place over the weekend.

The release indicates that shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9th, East Central 911 dispatched Wainwright Fire & Rescue to a reported structure fire in the 1900 block of 8 Avenue in Wainwright.

Crews observed smoke upon arrival and were able to quickly determine that the location of the fire was in the basement of a single-family dwelling. Firefighters were able to slow the progress of the fire as the responding apparatus set up for interior operations. Crews were able to enter the structure and get the blaze under control, while limiting fire damage to the vicinity of the room of origin.

Cliff Bethune, Fire Chief & Director of of Protective Services for the Town of Wainwright reports that no one was injured as a result of the incident, but the cause of the fire is considered suspicious in nature at this time.
