Just over $2 million to be spent on street improvement

Some $2 million dollars will be spent as the City of Lloydminster kicks off some of its street improvement projects this spring.

Knelson Sand & Gravel along with the city will lead repair work as well as replace the existing asphalt concrete pavement, concrete curb, gutter and sidewalks in two categories:

Street Improvements

  • 31 Street from 57 Avenue to 55 Avenue
  • 50 Avenue from 54 Street to 55 Street
  • 52 Avenue from 27 Street to 29 Street
  • 49 Avenue from 26 Street to 29 Street
  • 49 Avenue from 32 Street to 36 Street
  • 45 Avenue from 46 Street to 50 Street
  • 46 Avenue from 49 Street to 50 Street
  • 57A Avenue from 37 Street to 40 Street

Sidewalk improvements will also be done on 49 Avenue from 32 Street south to the existing sidewalk.

The city says that vehicle access will be restricted from time to time as the project requires, but it will be restored as soon as possible. Also, pedestrians will have access over the course of the project.

Officials encourage everyone to follow detour signage and routes and to drive with care when passing construction crews.

The exact budget for the project is $2,135,875.00.

Weather permitting, construction is expected to be completed by Sept. 1.
