Polar dip raises over $30K for Cystic Fibrosis Canada

Team Alberta brought in about $7,400 in donations while Team Saskatchewan crossed $16,000 as Kin and Kinette clubs held a polar dip for Cystic Fibrosis Canada at Macklin Lake.

Final tallies are still being counted, and organizers from the Macklin Kinette Club and Provost Kinsmen Club who staged the Battle on the Border feel they will cross $30,000 when all the pledges plus live and silent auctions from the anniversary banquet are accounted for.

With spring melt underway last Saturday, event planners used a large tub rather than brave the uncertainty of the melting lake surface.

Updates and the chilly action from the polar dip can be found on the club’s Facebook page.

The Macklin Kinettes are celebrating their 50th anniversary and officials note that since 1972, the club has raised over a million dollars for community and provincial causes.
