Lloydminster city council has voted in favour of putting $250,000 into the capital program for the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games to be hosted in the Border City from July 21-27.
The money will go towards upgrades at city facilities that will be hosting the various sporting disciplines.
The renos include:
- VLA Soccer Fields – Irrigation
- VLA Soccer Fields – Change room/Washrooms
- Bud Miller All Seasons Park Beach Volleyball Courts
- A portable sport court surface and portable bleachers that are to be purchased by the city
The Teine Energy-sponsored games will see some 1,800 young athletes from across Saskatchewan competing in Lloydminster in 15 sports including Archery, Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Canoe Kayak, Golf, Soccer, Softball, Special Olympics – Bocce, Swimming, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, and Wheelchair Basketball.
Local organizers are expected to issue a call for volunteers early next year.
