The second floor of the Lloydminster RCMP building is to be renovated to make way for the Saskatchewan Crime Reduction Unit after Lloydminster City Council gave its support for a $1.7 million budget.
Monday’s council meeting decided that $1,254,385, excluding GST, will go to Craftex Builders to deliver the renos and $300,000 to the RCMP renovation for the Saskatchewan Crime Reduction Unit project with a contingency of $89,000.
City administration noted that the extra $300,000 is to account for cost increases in the last two years since the Alberta Alert office was completed.
The 911 call centre will be getting a new space as part of the renos. Council documents list the build to include office space, a bullpen, lunchroom, meeting rooms, and storage.
