Border Paws Animal Shelter gets over $243K from City

Cats and dogs scored a big win this week as Lloydminster City Council approved $243,577 in funding for the Border Paws Animal Shelter over three years.

The agreement means that impounded animals have somewhere to go when picked up by municipal officers. Council noted however that “costs for the programs and services provided by Border Paws go well beyond the amount of this grant” and the animal shelter will have to continue with other revenue and fundraising efforts.

The agreement offers a two per cent increase each year:

  • 2024 – $79,590.00
  • 2025 – $81,182.00
  • 2026 – $82,805.00
