Community Futures Lloydminster captures Western Canada Excellence and Innovation Award

Like the gazelle that its project was named after, Community Futures Lloydminster has galloped away with the Excellence and Innovation Award at the PanWest conference held in Kelowna, B.C.

From among the four western provinces involving other community futures outfits, the Gazelle Project came away with the glitzy glass recognition.

GM Corinne McGirr explains the federal government program was for women entrepreneurs across the region. It ran for four years reaching some 1700 women.

“Our project covered quite a large region across northern Alberta and northwestern Saskatchewan. (The women) learned a little more about entrepreneurship. They started their businesses or grew their businesses.”

Community Futures PanWest provides support to 90 Community Futures organizations across western Canada.
