Blackfoot Fire stamps out grass fire

The Blackfoot Fire Department responded to a grass fire west of the Border City on Thursday evening.

While the cause of the blaze remains unknown, the flames were in four separate locations close to the rail line which runs just north of Highway 16, with three locations concentrated between Range Road 14 and Range Road 13. The Kitscoty RCMP was also called in around 5:25 p.m. to deal with traffic.

According to radio traffic heard by 106.1 The Goat at the scene, one firefighter suffered a broken leg at the scene. This was the only injury reported during the incident, which finished up around 6:05 p.m. after the flames were all knocked down.

The area is now clear, with only burnt grass left along the sides of the rail line.
