Abandoned vehicle leads police to body of missing person out of Saskatoon

Battlefords RCMP have located the body of a missing person.

On June 06, 2016 at approximately 9:00 pm, police responded to call about an abandoned vehicle on a grid road, near the North Saskatchewan River, south of the community of Denholm, Saskatchewan.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle belonged to Dorothy Rodgers of Saskatoon; Rodgers had been reported missing to Saskatoon Police Service by her family 2 days prior.

The following day, RCMP Search & Rescue along with SARSAV: Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Asspciation of Volunteers, partnered to search the immediate area around the location of the vehicle. RCMP Under Water Recovery Team was also involved given that the search was in such close proximity to the river.

On June 08, at approximately 4:00 pm the RCMP Under Water Recovery Team located the body of Dorothy Rodgers in the North Saskatchewan River within the vicinity of where her vehicle had been located. The family of Dorothy Rogers has been notified of this development in the missing person investigation.

An autopsy has been scheduled for this week. However, the RCMP are not considering foul play as a factor in this missing person investigation.
