Bobcats add 2 new players: the AMHL’s 2nd leading scorer & a Lloyd-native

The Lloydminster Bobcats have signed 2 more players, including the AMHL’s 2nd top scorer.

Forward, Zach Webb, was picked up from the Maple Leaf Athletic Club Midget AAA hockey team in Edmonton–the same team from which the Bobcats’ scooped Evan Wood.

Webb was the second highest scorer in the AMHL, with 13 goals and 39 assists, for a total of 52 points last season.

“(Webb) has great vision around the net and the ability to find an open man when he has the puck,” says Gord Thibodeau, Head Coach and GM of the Bobcats. “We expect him to be a go-to guy who can produce at a high level offensively from day one.”

The ‘Cats also picked up Tristan Petrie. The 6’2″, 175 lbs., defenseman is a Lloydminster-native and was called up for 3 games over the past 2 seasons to play with the ‘Cats.

Petrie was an alternate captain of the Midget AAA Bandit Pipeline Bobcats team and played a part in getting the team all the way to the Telus Cup national tournament in April this year, where they lost out in the semifinals.

He’s also the second player from his former to team to join the Junior A Bobcats for this season, after Tre Doyon.

“Petrie is a smart, stay-at-home defenseman with great character. He is a physical presence anytime he is on the ice,” adds Thibodeau.

The organization has now grown by 11 players with this latest recruitment announcement, since the beginning of the season June 1, 2016.

Main camp for the Bobcats’ and the new recruits will start August 26.
