No charges in accident injuring Cold Lake Peace Officer

Cold Lake RCMP have issued a release following up on incident that occurred at the beginning of July, wherein a Cold Lake City Peace Officer was injured.

Background on the incident is as follows: At approximately 2:30 p.m., July 5, 2016, Cold Lake RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision between a City of Cold Lake Peace Officer vehicle and an SUV. The accident happened on Highway 28 at 69th Avenue.

In the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the northbound SUV struck the front passenger’s side of the Peace Officer vehicle, as it was attempting to turn left onto 69th Avenue from Highway 28. The driver of the Peace Officer vehicle was transported to Cold Lake Hospital with minor injuries, treated, and quickly discharged.

The investigation into the collision was ongoing until recently and the RCMP has just released further information today.

According to the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment, after thorough and independent review, by the St. Paul Crown’s Office, no charges will be laid against either party involved in the collision.
