Habitat for Humanity announces partnership with Flying Dust First Nation

Habitat for Humanity Lloydminster has announced a partnership with Flying Dust First Nation. The organization has signed a memorandum of understanding with the First Nation from Meadow Lake, to build the first Habitat on First Nation Land. The organization will build a 10-unit lodge to house elders from Flying Dust First Nation, as well as retrofit abandoned homes for young families. Habitat for Humanity’s Aboriginal Housing Program started in 2007, but has never been able to build a house on Aboriginal land before now. Flying Dust Council Member Marie McCallum said that the first nation is honoured to partner with Habitat Lloydminster, and hopes other first nations in Canada will be inspired to follow their example.
