Preliminary hearing in Boushie murder case set for January 16

The preliminary hearing for accused murderer Gerald Stanley will take place in the New Year.

Stanley is the accused in the shooting death of Red Pheasant First Nation resident Colton Boushie, who died after being shot during a confrontation on the Stanley farm near Biggar, Sask. He previously pleaded not guilty to the charge of second-degree murder, later being granted bail and released on a lengthy set of conditions. During Stanley’s initial pair of court appearances, rallies were held in North Battleford and Battleford by supporters of the Boushie family.

The hearing will be held in the provincial court building in North Battleford, and is expected to run for a week, starting on January 16, 2017.
