Vader guilty on two counts of homicide

Travis Vader has been found guilty of the second degree murder of an elderly St. Albert couple.

The judge in the case says he’s concluded beyond a reasonable doubt that Vader killed Lyle and Marie McCann during a robbery in July 2010. However, he didn’t find enough evidence that he planned their deaths to convict him of first-degree murder.

The bodies of the McCanns have never been located, but police found Vader’s DNA and a fingerprint in their SUV, along with blood splatter from the couple. Life imprisonment is an automatic sentence for second degree murder, and Vader will have no chance of parole for between 10 and 25 years.
