Vermilion RCMP investigating attempted home invasion

The Vermilion RCMP are looking into a case of an early-morning home invasion.

According to a news release from the detachment, RCMP responded to a report of an attempted home invasion at a residence in Vermilion River County around 4:30 a.m. on October 11. When members attended, they found that an armed confrontation had taken place between several unknown suspects and the home owner.

The suspects had tried to gain entry to the home, but were unsuccessful in their attempt, and fled the area in a vehicle. The 64-year old man who was in the home was wounded by a gunshot during the incident, and taken to hospital with a serious injury, which was not life-threatening.

Assistance was provided by neighboring detachments to make patrols in the area, but neither the vehicle nor the suspects were found.
