THE FOLLOWING IS A STATEMENT FROM THE MAIDSTONE RCMP.
The Maidstone RCMP would like to advise the traveling public that as the day progresses, the highways are deteriorating. Between Paynton, SASK and Lloydminster, SK, there have been reports of freezing rain, rain and snow. With the lowering temperatures and the wet roadways, it is expected to be slippery this evening on Highway 16 and the other roadways in the Maidstone and Lloydminster area.
At around 1 p.m. this afternoon collisions began to be reported on Highway 16 near Waseca, SASK. Police attended to 3 seperate incidents there, and several other collisions in the area. Nobody suffered serious injury and road conditions were a factor at the time of each collision.
If you must travel, please remain vigilant while driving and slow down to 60 when passing emergency vehicles.
