Lakeland College is celebrating in the wake of a significant jump to its ranking as a research college. In Research Infosource’s ranking list, the college jumped to the 20th spot in the top 50 research college in Canada, a jump of 26 rankings since last year’s inaugural ranking of 46. The ranking looks at the amount colleges receive in donations to its research departments. Last year, Lakeland’s funding rose almost $2 million from 2012, totalling $2.6 million. Director of Applied Research and Commercialization Lorne McGregor says he expects Lakeland’s ranking next year won’t be as high since donations fluctuate year-to-year.
