Winston Churchill School to get wheelchair accessible playground equipment

Winston Churchill’s playground is getting an accessibility refresh. The school’s 30-year-old playground was scheduled to be replaced this summer by the LPSD, but the school decided to try and raise money for playground equipment that is accessible to children with special needs and mobility issues. The fundraising was completed yesterday with the formal presentation of a cheque of five thousand dollars by Can-Do Auto & Lube in a school assembly. The school intends to use the money buy a Rockin’ Glider wheelchair-accessible ship. Principal Elena Brand says that the school is still accepting donations for the new playground. If anyone still wants to contribute, they should call her at Winston Churchill School.
