Saskatchewan Green Party would bring tax exemption to Lloydminster

The Green Party of Saskatchewan says that they would grant a personal income tax exemption to Lloydminster. The city already has a Provincial Sales Tax exemption so that businesses on the Saskatchewan side are not at a disadvantage to businesses on the Alberta side, where there is no PST. Saskatchewan Green Party Leader Victor Lau says he would expand that to include income, so that Lloydminster residents on the Saskatchewan side would only pay 10% like their Albertan counterparts. Lau says lowering the income tax rate in the city would help the Saskatchewan side grow to match the Albertan side. Currently, just over one third of Lloydminster residents live on the Saskatchewan side of the border.
