One man facing murder charges following terrorist attack in New Zealand

One man is facing murder charges after 49 people were killed and just as many injured in a New Zealand shooting.
The country’s Prime Minister is calling it the darkest day in history after gunmen opened fire at two mosques in Christchurch earlier today. Reports suggest the people responsible for the shooting had a manifesto with many other targets.

Shooting video eludes officials trying to remove it

The New Zealand shooting is going viral on social media.
The shooting was live-streamed on Facebook and as moderators attempt to remove the video, it keeps getting reposted on the social media site and other services like YouTube. Officials are urging people to stop sharing the video.

Home sales dropped to the lowest since 2012 in February

The price tag on Canadian homes is dropping further.
In February, the average price of a home fell 5.2 per cent to just over $460,000. The number of homes sold was the lowest it’s been in the last six years, with almost 30,000 properties changing owners.

A few good news pieces in the economic world are helping boost investor sentiment today. A recent report suggests trade talks between the US and China are making progress, however the good news was muted a bit after reports suggested Donald Trump isn’t likely to sit down with his Chinese counterpart this month.

And investors are also breathing a sigh of relief as Britain’s divorce from the EU may be slowed at least, after lawmakers voted to allow Theresa May to extend Brexit.

Air Canada shareholders are feeling anything but relief as the company's stock drops on reports of massive delays. The airline has lost access to dozens of jets, affecting flights for thousands of customers daily after Ottawa grounded all Boeing 737 Max 8s. It has warned the delays are likely to last weeks.

Meanwhile, the price of crude is slowing down in its recent rally, still gaining to 58-79 a barrel as investors continue to feel positive about OPEC-led production cuts around the globe.

The energy-tied Loonie is pushing to 75.14 a barrel.

On this side of the border Air Canada and WestJet are both seeing declines as well, as investors worry over the losses faced by these airlines with many of the planes in their fleets now unusable.

Meanwhile, Brexit stress and the dragging Chinese economy are expected to weight global stocks. A new report showed almost no movement in China’s retail sales as the trade war continues to take its toll on the country’s economy.

US joins Canada in grounding Boeing jets; Ethiopian Airlines sends black box to Paris

More than 300 Boeing jets are now grounded across the globe.
The US is the latest country to follow the trend, shortly after Canadian officials decided to ban the use of Boeing 737 Max 8 and 9 planes. This comes after 157 people were killed in a recent crash involving one of the jets. Ethiopian Airlines has sent the recovered black box to Paris. Officials say the grounding of planes will likely cause a few weeks of chaos for Canadian travelers both at home and in other countries.
