Hockey Canada sizes up Lloydminster

Will Lloydminster be chosen to host the RBC Cup in 2016? That is the question Hockey canada selection commitee members came to the border city to find out Tuesday. Officials scoured the city to see if it was the right choice for the hockey tournament to be hosed by the Lloydminster Bobcats. Bobcats business Manager Malcolm Radke tells Goat News he believes hosting Hockey Day in Canada helped them pitch the city to the committee. Hockey Canada’s Director of Events and Properties Dean McIntosh says going around and seeing the communities themselves is something new the selection committee is doing this year. Young Lloydminster Hockey players greeted the selection committee as they came off the plane Tuesday, which McIntosh said was great to see. The decision will come down at Hockey Canada’s annual general meeting.
