Head-On Collision On Highway 17

Maidstone RCMP are currently on scene of a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 17, just north of Lloydminster, south of Township Road 514. The collision was reported to the police just before eight this morning. It involved a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle and a 1995 BMW. The Beetle was traveling North bound on Highway 17, and collided head-on with the BMW. The female driver in the Volkswagen died immediately. The BMW driver is receiving medical treatment by Emergency Services. This portion of Highway 17 is currently closed, while police conduct an investigation. Personnel are directing traffic to an alternate route.
