Guilty Plea Expected From Man Accused of Murdering Two Women in Lloydminster Area

Chief Crown Prosecutor Jeff Rudiak told the Canadian Press he is expecting Gordon Alfred Rogers to plead guilty to second degree murder for two murder charges.

Rogers was charged in March of 2016 with the first degree murder of Jeanette Chief and Violet Heathen from Onion Lake.

The body of 48 year old Jeanette Chief  was discovered June 6, 2007 in a river near Lloydminster, four days after she was last seen.

The remains of Violet Heathen were discovered near Kitscoty in November 2009, approximately six months after she was reported missing by her family.

RCMP say Rogers had known Violet Heathen for a few years but that Jeanette Chief had not known him. Rogers had lived and worked in the Lloydminster area before moving to Red Deer.
