Bonnyville Reeve Ed Rondeau says that 2015 is shaping up to be a cautious year for the district. In Rondeau’s January message he said that Bonnyville council set its 2015 budget on the assumption that oil prices would settle and remain at a reasonable price, but that hasn’t happened. As a result, Rondeau says that council now has to focus on reducing spending, while still providing Bonnyville residents with a high quality of service. A large amount of Bonnyville’s tax revenue comes from oil, and that could result in what he called a “bare bones budget” in 2016.
