North Battleford Standoff Ends With Arrest

North Battleford RCMP have identified the suspect responsible for a school lockdown and a police standoff last week. On Thursday it took officers several hours to arrest 24-year-old Gabriel Poundmaker (pictured above), after receiving complaints of a distraught man at a home near St. Mary’s School. Students and nearby residents were evacuated. After an hours-long standoff, Poundmaker was safely taken into custody. He faces several charges for incidents dating back to January 5th, including possession of weapons, dangerous driving, pointing a fire arm, flight from police, and probation violations.
