As of October, Saskatchewan’s minimum wage is increasing from $10.72 to $10.96.
There are approximately 49,900 minimum wage and low wage earners in Saskatchewan. Women and youth make up the majority of minimum wage workers at 62% and 35% respectively.
About 70% of low wage earners work in retail or accommodation and food services.
The increase was calculated using an indexation formula that has been used since 2011.
