Blackfoot Fire Department is investigating the cause of a large fire just west of Lloydminster. Just before 7 A.M. Wednesday, a large blaze broke out at VDM Trucking, near Range Road 20 by Highway 16’s Blackfoot Turnoff. Emergency crews responded quickly, urging residents to avoid the area to allow crews to work. Blackfoot Fire Chief Brad Parkinson says they’ve learned that the fire started on a truck in the shop, before spreading to the rest of the building. It is not yet know what sparked the flames. Five fire departments responded to the fire – Vermilion, Islay, Kitscoty, Brittania-Wilton and Blackfoot. Emergency crews remained on scene well into the afternoon to douse the blaze.
