Border City Roller Derby League searches for new members

Lloydminster’s roller derby women’s team Angels of Assault is recruiting. They’re inviting all women between the ages of 7 and 80 to come to their open house on Saturday. At the open house, visitors will get to meet players on the team, learn about playing in the roller derby league, try on gear, and sign up for an 11-week training course. Angels of Assault Team Member Pamela Dow, also known by her derby name as “Cakes” says the team has to build itself up for a big tournament in Calgary this year. Dow also says men who are interested in roller derby can come out as well, and that if they receive enough interest, they might start a co-ed team. The open house will be held at St. John’s Anglican church, near the intersection of 49th street and 47th avenue, from 2-5 PM. More information can be found on the Border City Roller Derby League’s Facebook page.
