Animal Health Week Proclaimed in Saskatchewan

This week is Animal Health Week in Saskatchewan.

This year’s national theme is, “Animal Welfare: Safeguarding the Five Animal Freedoms.”

“Saskatchewan’s livestock producers are dedicated to ensuring the health and welfare of their animals. They take great pride in using animal care practices that keep their livestock healthy and stress-free,” says Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart.

The Five Animal Freedoms are proper nutrition, proper socialization, adequate shelter, appropriate veterinary care and ability to exhibit normal behaviour.

Saskatchewan’s Animal Health Week coincides with Animal Health Week in Canada, as proclaimed by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association.
