Update: Charges Laid, Police Presence Decreasing

One person is facing several charges following an investigation on Thursday in Maidstone.

Police say Jeremy Kelly Buffin was arrested when he exited a car that became stuck in a slough area yesterday morning in an area near Maidstone. The car was reported stolen from a residence between Lloydminster and Maidstone early yesterday morning.

The 29 year old is being charged with robbery with a weapon, pointing a firearm, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime and flight from police.

The police presence has decreased however, Maidstone RCMP continue to conduct patrols in the area and the investigation is ongoing. Police say a second person has not been located and they do not know if someone else was involved in this incident.

Police ask the public not to approach suspicious vehicles or people and report any suspicious activity, vehicles or persons in the Maidstone area to police. The RCMP also thank the public for their cooperation.
