Cat Yoga Coming to Lloydminster

Cat yoga will be coming to the Border City on Tuesday.

The Lloydminster and District SPCA is partnering with Nevermind Wellness and Vivid Salon Spa and Wellness to offer the event. Cats from the SPCA will be participating.

“We thought it just was a really great way to get people to get involved and support the SPCA but also have a really unique event and hopefully and a result of that we’ll hopefully get some more people wanting to come out and experience cat yoga for the first time,” says Jon Punshon, the Executive Director of the Lloydminster SPCA.

He goes on to say, “it’s a great way to potentially come out and view some of the cats that we have available for adoption as well and maybe if you’re looking for a cat, it might be a good opportunity to come out and meet some feline friends.”

Last year, the SPCA held a similar event at Lakeland College.

“We found that it was a really, really fun experience for the people that participated because the cats really got into it and had a good time along with the people that were doing the yoga too,” says Punshon.

The SPCA is hoping to make this a regular event.

“If the response is really good, it would be wonderful if we could get this to be a more of a regular, even once a month, fundraiser but it depends on how it goes and if people enjoy it and want to get involved next time,” explains Punshon.

Cat yoga starts at 6 pm at Vivid Salon, there is a minimum $5 donation, with all proceeds going towards the SPCA.
