Lloyd Co-Op Holding Concert To Raise Money For Two Charities

The Lloydminster Salvation Army Food Bank and the Olive Tree will be getting a helping hand from the Lloydminster and District Co-Op once again this year through a concert.

“It’s a musical celebration featuring Tom Jackson and friends, with storytelling, interactive songs, highlighting Tom Jackson’s experiences from coast-to-coast as we celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday this year,” says Leanne Hawes, Vice President of Operations at the Lloyd Co-Op.

In 2016, the Lloydminster Salvation Army Food Bank prepared 1,700 food hampers and served an average of 60 families per week through the food bank. While the Olive Tree prepared and served over 19,000 meals.

“Unfortunately the need for these services is continuing to increase as we’ve found out. It’s really important to us that we do whatever we can in terms of supporting these causes and putting that money back into our local community,” says Hawes.

She adds, “last years event raised $25,000 that was split between the Olive Tree and the Salvation Army Food Bank and this year we’re really hoping to hit that same number and hopefully higher.”

The December 1 concert is over 50% sold out. Tickets for Tom Jackson’s Christmas 150 are available at the Vic Juba, online or by phone at 780-872-7400.
