Rosemarie Falk will be representing the Conservative Party of Canada in the upcoming Battlefords-Lloydminster by-election following her nomination win.
“I want to serve the people to the best capacity possible and represent them well. I think that Battlefords-Lloydminster deserves to have a strong voice in the House of Commons and I’m prepared to do that,” says Falk.
She plans to work on a number of issues if she were to be elected.
“We need to defend our small businesses, we need to defend our ag sector and our farmers, especially with the proposed tax reform that the Liberals want to bring forward and the energy sector. We know in Lloydminster that we’re struggling and we need that support from our policy makers.”
Falk says, “the Conservative Party is the only party standing up to the hypocrisy of the Liberal government. We have a Prime Minister and a Finance Minister who have broke laws and now the ethics commissioner is looking into them and they’ve been fined. I think we are the only party that can represent the people well and represent the people that want to work, that want to have small businesses.”
In regards to allegations made by Ken Finlayson, the NDP Party and Liberal Party candidate Larry Ingram, Falk says she does not know why Finlayson wasn’t allowed to run however she adds there was time constraints and a lot of paperwork that needed to be done.
“Due to Conservative Party’s constitution, it threw us into a snap nomination. Within our constitution it says we need to have a candidate within seven days. Unfortunately that put pressure on everybody that wanted to run.”
According to Finlayson, his candidacy was rejected by the Conservative Party Nomination Selection Committee. The NDP says that “Tory HQ wanted to force its Ottawa candidate on the Battlefords.”
However Falks says, “I don’t believe the party has slanted anything in my favour. I know that people have been saying that I’ve worked for the Conservative Party, I’ve never worked for the Conservative Party of Canada. I am not from Ottawa, I was born and raised in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan.”

The Green Party is the only party that has not selected a candidate. The last day to file nomination papers is November 20. The by-election takes place on December 11.
