Culture House in need of Christmas care packages

The Culture House is hoping to have something under the tree for Lloydminster’s homeless community. The drop-in centre is looking for 20 to 30 backpacks with toiletries, socks, winter clothing such as gloves and hats, and small denomination gift cards inside.

Culture House Director Wendy Wilson says the donations are part of a Sunday Christmas Dinner for the homeless.

“Many of them obviously will not be with family on Christmas Day and not get a present this year. So we were hoping to give them something from the community this Christmas.”

Wilson adds that if residents can’t donate a care package there are other ways to help the Culture House.

“We’re always looking for donations for the 610, whether it’s coffee supplies, whether it’s paper supplies, whether it’s donations of canned food. We have people who are willing to make meals; we just have to supply them with the food to make those meals. They can drop off Christmas baking, anything like that.”

Donations can be dropped off during open hours on the weekend at the Culture House or people can reach out on the Culture House website.
