Interval Home in need of donations during holiday season

The Interval Home says their women’s shelter is in need of donations year-round.

The society provides shelter and resources to women and children experiencing domestic violence and/or homelessness.

Executive director of the Lloydminster Interval Home Society Angela Rooks-Trotzuk says the shelter is usually full to capacity year round but this season can cause an increase in people needing their resources.

“Anytime there’s an increase in stressors in the relationship whether it be financial troubles, emotional struggles or employment struggles, what have you there is an increase in risk and incidents of domestic violence.”

Rooks-Trotzuk says there are many things residents can provide to help the shelter.

“We are in need of practical items, so things like food and clothing donations. At this point in the year we try to provide Christmas gifts and hampers to all of the people that have come through our programming throughout the year.”

Donations can be dropped off at the Interval Home Store.
