Local company named as one of Saskatchewan’s top employers

Synergy Credit Union has been named one of the top places to work in Saskatchewan.

The Top Employers poll measures work atmosphere and satisfaction, training, employee benefits and employee communication among other aspects. Businesses apply for the recognition, and a panel votes on whether or not to place them on the list.

Synergy CEO Glenn Stang says this is the first year they tried to apply for the award, and the company’s culture set them apart.

“I think our leadership is very engaged. We get that feedback all the time from new employees that join us. They’re very impressed that they can come to work, sit down and have lunch with our executives and you’re just always engaged. We purposefully set out as a strategy for us each year to be able to visit all of our branches and talk directly with our people.”

Another focus of the list is community interaction. Stang says Synergy works hard to be active members of the community.

“So we have set a target for our staff that we are looking for 40 hours a year in staff volunteerism, and we far exceed that. Last year we were just shy of 12,000 volunteer hours and we’re a company of about 220 employees. So we’re pretty proud of that achievement.”

Applications for 2019’s Saskatchewan Top Employers are expected to open sometime in the next few months.
