Agriculture Minister Discusses Mad Cow Scare

Lloydminster MP Gerry Ritz says that the market for Canadian beef has not been severely affected by the Mad Cow scare. The federal Agriculture Minister was at a breakfast hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, to give an update on affairs in Ottawa. He says he’s not sure when restrictions placed on Canadian beef imports will be lifted. Since the 19th case of Mad Cow disease was discovered in Alberta, five countries have placed restrictions on Canadian beef imports, but they make up only about 5% of the beef export market.
