Elk Point RCMP arrest wanted male at Frog Lake residence

Elk Point RCMP and the Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (EADCRU) have arrested a wanted male.

RCMP responded to reports of a man with a firearm at a residence in Frog Lake. The 47-year old man from Mannville who was known to police from past incidents fled the scene before police arrived.

A warrant was conducted at the residence in Frog Lake on a later date by RCMP and EADCRU. While the warrant was being conducted he fled on foot and shortly after was found and arrested. He did sustain minor injuries while fleeing and was taken to hospital.

Jeremy Whincup is in policy custody and was previously wanted on 17 charges for property and theft related offences. He has been charged for his latest offence with Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Firearm, Breach of Recognizance, Possession Contrary to Order, Unauthorized Possession and Careless Storage of a Firearm.

He will appear in St.Paul Provincial Court on Feb. 15.
