‘The Child Taken’ Exhibit Shows Impact Of Residential Schools

Tomorrow, the Lloydminster Cultural and Science Centre will unveil an exhibit dealing with a dark chapter of Canadian history. The exhibit is titled “The Child Taken”, and depicts the impact of Residential Schools on Canada’s First Nations. Nine paintings will be on display, created by students at the University of Saskatchewan. Recreation Programmer Sarah Hockridge says it is important to speak about difficult issues, and that the exhibit is very emotional. The LCSC is also planning a reception with Chief Felix Thomas of the Saskatoon Tribal Council on Saturday, from 2-4pm. The exhibit will run until April 25th.
