Cut Knife opens new medical clinic increasing patient services

A former medical clinic in Cut Knife has gone through renovations to provide more options for patient care.

The Primary Health Centre was officially introduced to local residents with an Open House Thursday. The new medical clinic was relocated to the west wing of the Cut Knife Health Complex and has been expanded to increase services to patients. Director of Primary Health Services North Battlefords Charlotte Hamilton says that the new space is three times larger than the former clinic and patients access to services is nearly double.

The expansion includes three patient examination rooms and spaces for permanent and visiting medical staff such as Mental Health counsellors and Home Care nurses. Director of Rural Health Facilities Neal Sylvestre says patients will benefit from greater access to health services available from a single location.

“Relocating the PHC on the same side of the facility as the existing Laboratory services also improves convenience for patients.”

Other changes include expanding hours of service to five days a week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the exception of one Friday a month where the clinic is closed. Hamilton says the change of hours was due to the availability of the nurses.
