Armed man arrested after a standoff in North Battleford

RCMP have arrested a 39 year-old man after an armed standoff at a home in North Battleford.

On Sunday, March 23rd, police received a complaint of a drunk and agitated man threatening to shoot himself with a gun. The man also threatened to take another occupant of the house hostage, and shoot any first responders that attended.

Battleford RCMP officers, along with Police Dog services surrounded the residence, and negotiated with the man for 5 hours. He eventually surrendered, and nobody was hurt. The man’s charges include possession of a weapon, careless use of a firearm, and assaulting Peace Officers with a weapon..
