Housing starts in Lloydminster on the rise for 2018

The City has seen an increase of construction on new homes in 2018 so far, according to the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation. There were 26 housing starts for the first quarter of the year, compared to last year’s 11.

On the Alberta side, nine single family homes have started to get worked on, while zero multi family homes have been built. In 2017, there were six single family homes being built, for a total of six housing starts in the first quarter.

On the Saskatchewan side, multi family homes have seen a jump from zero in 2017 to 13 being built, while the number of single family homes have decreased from five to four. The total number of construction starts for 2018 are 17 compared to the year before of five in the first quarter.

Alberta has seen almost double the amount of housing starts in 2018 with 405, compared to last year’s 244.
