2018 Youth Art Show calling for submissions

Local youth in the City are being called on to submit their artwork for the Lloydminster Cultural and Science Centre 2018 Youth Art Show.

The art show is being held alongside National Youth Arts Week to showcase local talent. Collections Coordinator Kate Squissato says that it’s a chance for young artists in the community to display their artwork in a professional setting.

“They focus on a variety of different mediums. We get a lot of two dimensional art, but we also get three dimensional art as well so it’s not just limited to painting, photography and drawing.”

Submissions are being accepted from April 17 to May 1 and require one piece of art per person that could be either two dimensional or three dimensional. Squissato says that there are a lot of talented young artists in Lloydminster.

“This is gauged towards artists who are youths in the community so three to 18 years old. It helps them express themselves in a public forum and it really gets their artwork out into the community.”

The exhibit will be running from May 2 to 27 at the Lloydminster Cultural and Science Centre. The centre will also be hosting a reception evening for the artists featured in the show on May 24.
