North Battleford has issued a warning of high flows on the North Saskatchewan River with the ice starting to break up.
The City says that there is a potential of flooding in low lying areas with the current flows combined with ice break up. North Battleford Fire Chief Trevor Brice says that they are currently monitoring the water flow, ice conditions, ice jams and possible flooding conditions.
“The river is very dangerous with the flow and ice conditions at present and we are encouraging everyone to stay away from the river until the ice break up has been completed.”
The Fire Department recommends that people refrain from activities around and on the river until further notice.
