Lloydminster gearing up for 2018 “Muck Run”

The Lloydminster Muck Run is back this year, looking to get people dirty for a health cause.

The event raises money through registration for the Lloydminster Regional Health Foundation, which will go towards several health priorities for Lloydminster.

Jody Herbus, owner of BioClean Disaster Services is helping sponsor the event and also has a team competing. He says he wants to see as many teams as possible come out to support what he calls a “crucial cause.”

“Whether we’re talking about mental health initiatives, people who have to undergo surgeries here local, follow ups that need to be done for medical appointments, this organization is so important to the community of Lloydminster.”

The Muck Run is described as a “self-challenge” obstacle course. Runners can compete at whatever skill level or obstacles they feel comfortable undertaking. There’s spots open for teams, or people who want to join in by themselves.

Herbus says he sees hundreds of people come out to participate and volunteer every year.

“Anyone can join in. It’s a timed run you do against yourself. Some people walk through the course, others run and challenge themselves. The biggest thing is get out, participate, engage in physical activity, and you know all of those proceeds are staying here in Lloydminster.”

The event is Saturday, May 12th at Bud Miller Park. Runners can register at the LRHF website.
