Lloydminster Men’s shelter looking for volunteers to help meet the need

The Lloydminster Men’s Shelter says they are looking for a number of volunteers to fill a variety of positions.

They’re looking for volunteers to come in the morning a couple times a week to help answer phones and serve food to those in need. The shelter is also looking for fundraising volunteers to help the committee with this year’s initiatives.

Executive director of the Lloydminster Men’s shelter Valerie Lazicki says volunteers help the station stay staffed enough to deal with a 24/7 need.

“Our front door is always open for people to come when they’re hungry. Sometimes it keeps me hopping, so it would be great to have a volunteer to help out with that.”

Lazicki says the volunteers not only have an impact by lightening the workload, but also offering new perspectives as well.

“Sometimes we get stuck in a routine and a volunteer will come along and say ‘why don’t we try this way?’ and it works out fantastic. We had a volunteer who would organize meals from restaurants. Once a month a different restaurant would provide a meal for the guys.”

Someone interested in volunteering for the Lloydminster Men’s Shelter call Lazicki at 306-825-3977.
