Battleford donates to New Beginnings Campaign

The town of Battleford has donated $110, 725.00 to the Saskatchewan Hospital’s New Beginning Campaign. The donation is equal to $5 per capita over five years that will help with the campaign’s $8 million goal.

With the donation from Battleford, the campaign has raised $6.4 million. The funds will go towards buying medical equipment and furnishings for the new hospital being built in North Battleford. Mayor Ames Leslie said in a statement that they are happy to help with the project and the people who need care.

“We recognize the huge economic impact Saskatchewan Hospital has on our local economy. Each and every year, $17 million in salaries alone is put back into our economy and this will increase as more jobs are created at the new hospital.”

The town will have a cafe named after them in the hospital that will house computers for patients to connect with friends and family, as well as continue their studies. The Battleford Internet Cafe will also give patients the opportunity to learn basic computer skills and keep up-to-date with current events.
