Lloydminster has been voted Canada’s most rider friendly community

Motorcycle enthusiasts might want to take a trip to Lloydminster.

Lloydminster has been voted Canada’s most rider friendly community based on the contest overseen by Community Futures offices across Canada. Lloydminster pulled ahead of Drumheller in the final stage of the contest.

General Manager of Community Futures Lloydminster Phyllis Maki believes this will have a positive impact on the community of Lloydminster, and they will be determining what to do with the prize.

“We’re going to be doing some organizing events to try and figure out exactly how and what we want marketing through the marketing available. I really want to get all the businesses that helped make us winners involved in this and see where we can take it from here and build off of this.”

A $35,000 marketing package and a sign indicating the contest outcome are among a list of what is being brought to the city.

Founder and CEO of Belt Drive Betty Media and the creator of Canada’s MOST Rider Friendly Community Contest Renee “Belt Drive Betty” Charbonneau says Lloydminster originated around the theme of motorcycling in so many ways including being built supporting each other.

“Motorcyclists don’t want to be in the big cities, they want to go out where there is that great piece of pie, that wonderful cup of coffee, a great motorcycle event where they can listen to some music and participate in some rodeo games.”

Charbonneau also states that events and accolades like this can reduce the stigma around riders.

“If you ask the guys from Two Hills they will tell you right straight, motorcyclists never leave a mess, they always clean up after themselves.”

The sign is aimed for a reveal in September alongside the annual toy run.
